Harry Youren, the houndsman behind Youren Outfitters, offers the finest hound hunting experience in the United States. Youren Outfitters is located outside of Boise, Idaho, one of the last frontiers in the lower 48. Idaho is a state that is still loyal to its outdoorsman and promotes the conservation of predators through hunting, trapping, baiting, and hound hunting.
Hunting for a living his entire life, Harry is one of the best hunters around. He guides cougar and bear hunts throughout winters and springs, and elk in the fall. Hunting for a living for three seasons a year is no easy task, unless you’re a really good hunter and passionate. Being the animal expert he is, Harry has some of the most prized dogs you can find for pursuing cougar and bear. His willingness to expend all his effort to catch a critter with his hounds gives our hunters one of the best predator hunts experiences out there.

The Youren experience is not about fancy lodges, five-star cuisine, or recreational activities at a ranch; it’s all about hunting and filling your tag. We enjoy modern comforts at camp or the lodge, depending on the season, but hunters come here to kill.
The hunt takes place in a very scenic, rugged area of the Boise Mountains, but only about three hours away from Boise and the airport. While the hunting area is accessible, it is certainly remote and there is no cell service. We are in beautiful country, side by side the Boise River. There is plenty of game, teeming with all critters that call Idaho home. If you are cougar hunting in the winter, you should expect plenty of snow. We typically use snow shoes, and sometimes snowmobiles. In the spring and summer months when bear hunting, you can dress for a cool spring day that may turn warm, in gear that is comfortable to walk in. The spring/summer bear hunt is also a great hunt to do with a group or family. Sometimes we see multiple bears in a day!
